What options are available to you
You can contact the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 or use their Find a Financial Counsellor tool: Find a Financial Counsellor.
If your matter relates to a legal issue you can contact the Law Institute of Victoria.
- You can also contact your lender to request hardship assistance.
- If you have received a decline to a request, you have already made, you can lodge a complaint through the lender’s website.
- You can also lodge a complaint about your lender with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) if the lender is a member of AFCA and ask them to postpone enforcement whilst you work with the lender to find a resolution. AFCA’s service is free to access: Make a Complaint | Australian Financial Complaints Authority
